According to CNN’s report, the incident took place around 3:30 PM local time in the capital of the United States, Washington D.C. After witnessing F-16 jets in the air, the people of Washington heard sounds resembling explosions. Initially, the public assumed that a bombing had occurred and contacted local law enforcement. They reported the F-16 fighter jets and the explosion-like sound resembling a sonic boom.
Local teams responding to the incident informed the Federal Aviation Administration about the situation. The Federal Aviation Administration stated that there was no cause for concern and that it was related to an aircraft entering U.S. airspace and not responding to radio calls. Following the statement, the U.S. Department of Defense provided a more detailed explanation of the incident.
According to the announcement, it was revealed that two U.S. F-16 jets were tracking a private jet that never responded to communication attempts via radio frequencies. The private aircraft continued on its course without responding to any radio announcements. Subsequently, it was reported that the tracked aircraft crashed.
The fact that there was no communication with the aircraft’s pilot – or pilots – indicates that they might have been unconscious. The plane crashed in the southwestern part of Virginia.
